FEATURES:
EXCLUSIVE (PATENT PENDING) INTELLIGENT TIMER:
This is not a cheap off-the-shelf timer that you have to set every day of the week! It has an internal intelligent timer that automatically adds supplemental light to your natural day length.
EXCLUSIVE (PATENT PENDING) BULB:
We partnered with MillerTech to develop a poultry specific LED bulb. We use a proprietary blend of 40 LED chips, in 3 different colors, to provide the optimal wavelengths for laying hens.
EXCLUSIVE (PATENT PENDING) ANALOG DRIVER/DIMMER:
Our dimmer very closely replicates the natural sunrise/sunset cycle. It comes on in the morning with a soft red/orange glow, mimicking dawn and gradually brightening over a half hour period into full spectrum light. The bulb will automatically shut off over a ten minute period after the photo sensor registers full daylight. In the evening, the light comes back on when the photo sensor registers decreasing ambient light. It will stay on until desired total hours are reached, then fade off into a soft red/ orange sunset!
TOOL BATTERY POWER:
The best part... it runs off your existing tool batteries! Units available with Milwaukee/Dewalt combo or Makita.
What are the differences between Alumi-Knight vs. Cheaper single corn-cob style bulb with a timer and single tool battery?
1. The Alumi-Knight has two battery adapters, doubling the time between battery changes. The Alumi-Knight AK-200 unit typically runs for 3-4 days (set at 16 hours/day) on two 5AH batteries (based on data from our northern Indiana based research farm).
2. The bulb runs on analog power instead of a pulse width modulation (PWM) driver. To best describe the difference between these two, think of a water valve and hose. The analog signal gradually turns the valve open to full blast, while the PWM signal opens and closes the valve repeatedly, ramping up the frequency of cycles (hertz) to increase flow. The actual flow of water appears very similar to the human eye, but there is a difference. Why is analog better? While the human eye can not see the difference, poultry eyes can. They can detect the difference on anything less than 2000 hz. This creates additional stress in your hens due to the flickering appearance of the cheaper lights. In summary, the Alumi-Knight analog dimmer turns the voltage on slowly/steadily to increase and decrease the brightness of the bulb.
3. With our exclusive intelligent timer, simply set it to the desired total time and you're done! You don't have to set the individual days of the week. It creates additional stress in your hens to abruptly pull total hours of light up too fast! Our timer automatically ramps up the total hours gently until desired hours are reached! And never decrease the total hours in a production flock, unless you want them to naturally molt in the fall.
